This past weekend was a long weekend here in Melbourne, so Mike & I spent it with family at the beach, reading, laughing, exploring beachside towns, and just enjoying being with our loved ones.

But before we started the drive there on Friday night, I wrote ‘Clarity’ on a post-it note and dropped it into my Dear Universe jar…

I had been feeling a bit confused about a few things the last few weeks, so I wanted to invite clarity into my mind and my life, and getting away from the city for the long weekend seemed like the perfect time to do that. There’s nothing clearer than blue skies and the crystal blue ocean.

I can’t walk past a book store without going in, so when we saw a gorgeous little book store while walking down the main street in town, we stepped in and let the books call to us. I noticed a book I had seen on the morning show a few weeks ago, written by one of my new favourite bloggers; Rhonda Hetzel of Down To Earth.

The idea of living a simple life has been calling me for a long time, so when I saw this gem sitting on a table in that cute book store by the sea, I picked it up and haven’t put it down since.

This book is now my bible. I’m completely head over heels in love with it, and not just because the section on finances and budgeting actually made me excited about taking a look at our finances (a first for me!) and even prompted us to crunch numbers and write a budget, but there’s also tons of amazing information about living simpler in every area of life. From buying a house and raising children to growing vegetables and making your own cleaning products, and even sections dedicated to simple living for every decade of our lives! It lays it all out, plain and clear.

Oh, and it’s full of beautiful photographs, ideas, recipes, and pearls of wisdom just like this one…

This line really made me realise that I don’t have to wait until we buy a house or move to the beach to start living simply, it can be done just as easily and as quickly right here, right now, in our sweet little apartment in the suburbs.

So that’s what I’m endeavoring to do; create a simple life, filled with love, laughter, and learning, and share my ongoing journey here.

Other things I’ve been loving lately are…

…I loved the Right-Brainers in Business Video Summit so much that I upgraded to preimum, and won a Right-Brain Business Plan Kit too! YAY! :D

And taking the time to admire nature. Especially bright pink nature.

When we returned home yesterday, my mind and my life were clearer than ever. Plans are being made, and life is looking more beautiful than ever.

It’s as simple as that.

HI Jen! I haven’t commented since you were in China, but come and lurk from time to time. I’ll bet you’d like a blog by the owner of the pilates studio I go to. She and her husband are utterly committed to the simple living lifestyle and the blog is full of good stuff. Enjoy!
